In Stockholm: The Sky View

I love a good view, I will climb really tiny towers (Oh get ready there is a blog post coming, eventually) and I will happily pay in to look out at a city many times over.  Whenever I am somewhere new I have to see it from a height so I was looking for a place in Stockholm and since going for a decent enough walk with an injury wasn’t very feasible I chose The Sky View.  PhoebeGill160716713Normal entry into The Sky View is SEK150 (€15) but with The Stockholm Pass it is free before 12pm and after that costs SEK30 (€3) To be honest if I paid €15 I would be a little hard done by because the Sky View globe is located outside of the main area of Stockholm, it is near the stadiums, concert halls and a shopping mall. It has the feel of being in a more residential area and away from the main areas your average tourist would explore. PhoebeGill160716416That’s not to say that the 20 minute trip isn’t worth a look see I would just try and get the discount ticket and see it for free or for cheap. It’s always fun to ride in a gondola, I really love the mechanics  of these things. There are two pods that ride up to the top of the globe. It would be really cool if the tracks did the 180 degrees of the globe but it just goes up to the top and then back down the same way. PhoebeGill160716656Seeing all of Stockholm is beautiful, it’s green and looks like there are lots of pretty places to visit. Once you get to the top you can see a tiny bit of the coastline and it looks gorgeous. Although it’s a bit outside the main city, the T-Bana station is really close by so it’s very easy to get to. I just wish there was a tower in the centre of Stockholm because the city is so beautiful!PhoebeGill160716023I recommend it but would I go again? Probably not. I enjoyed the view and it was fun to be in a pod gliding up the side of a building but it’s not exactly what I was looking for so I was a little disappointed.

In Wicklow: My Happy Place

cover imageI don’t know what it is but when I am out driving, to clear my head, to get away from everything, I end up here. Possibly because of it’s beauty, maybe the breeze from the valley blows away the cobwebs or maybe because I have really happy memories attached to this place. Whatever it is it is a definite must see if you are travelling around Wicklow. cold

If you are travelling in Winter it will be very cold, do you see my face? I thought my fingers were going to fall off. Bring all of your layers! You will need them. Something I really recommend if you are freezing is to go for a walk, the Ballinastoe walk right by Lough Tay is the perfect walk to do if you need to get the feeling back in your body. PhoebeGill150227073

This walk is great for a tourist because of the boardwalk, if you are afraid of getting lost, don’t worry the path will guide you. It protects the landscape because it is such a travelled route. Bring some ankle support because the boards can get uneven in places and you don’t want to twist your ankle.

PhoebeGill150227043 The boardwalk goes all the way up to the base of the mountain, and because there has been so many visitors they have carved out the path in the mountain so it is very easy to follow. Untitled-1The main attraction is Lough Tay, this beautiful lake can be seen all along the road so there are many places to view it. Stopping off at any of them will give you the most amazing pictures! This area is amazing at all times of the year so whenever you are visiting you are sure to experience the best of the area.

I love this area, it’s not far from South Dublin at all, it’s really accessible, lots of space to park your car and a great place to explore and get some great images! Have you been to this area?

In Reykjavik: View From The Top

In Reykjavik: View From The Top

Something that you have to do in Reykjavik is go to the top of Hallgrímskirkja. It is absolutely beautiful!

There is an admission fee of 700isk (€7) that you buy in the shop just past the entrance.

There are four sides of the tower to get a panoramic view of the city. But three of them are the best.

1. The stunning view of Mt. Esja.PhoebeGill150112019

2. The straight view of downtown Reykjavik. With the colourful buildings and gorgeous view of the water.

3. The view of where the sun rises and the expanse of the city.PhoebeGill150112058The views are so beautiful and well worth the 7 euro. Have you been up the tower?

In Cape Town: Signal Hill

In Cape Town: Signal Hill

PhoebeGill141016003If you want a panoramic view of this beautiful city I urge you to go to Signal Hill. It has free parking but it is limited so if it is a hot nice day or table mountain has queues lasting hours, there will be no spaces at all. From here you can get a view of Robben Island, the whole city and the beautiful mountains. It’s perfect.

In Australia: The Best View

In Australia: The Best View

I love take off and landing when flying! It is so much fun and there is nothing like descending into a new country. I love looking out the window as we get nearer and nearer the ground, looking at the view often going from rural to urban within seconds.

One of the best views I have ever seen out of a plane window was Sydney, Australia. You know all the iconic features you seen of postcards of Sydney?

Well they are all there, right as you fly in.

It’s very rare to see a city’s highlights as you come into land and I thought it was amazing.
