I get the pleasure of going to Kilkenny because my friend is from there and we do something new every time I am down. This time was somewhere we’d both wanted to do for a while, the Dunmore Caves. A beautiful and interesting site, it was a pleasure to go and see it. Like with most OPW sites, entry to the caves is €4 but come just before the hour because that is when the guided tour starts. There is also a video and information in the visitors centre to enjoy before the guided tour so allow time for that. The cave has an amazing history, of vikings and a massacre. Not only is there a really interesting story to the cave but the formations are really impressive and each chamber is geologically beautiful! It’s a small site but impressive none the less. The tour lasts an hour and is so interesting, I would definitely do it again. For more information check here. Is it really only accessible by car, here are the coordinates N52.7341, W7.2477.
